THE HITCHCOCK 9
Hitchcock’s Surviving Silent Films, Newly Restored with Live Music
June 29-July 3
Discover the silent films of the Master of Suspense in this monumental touring series that presents all nine of Alfred Hitchcock’s surviving silent films. Lovingly restored by the British Film Institute in an undertaking of unprecedented magnitude—missing footage restored, decades of damage and dirt removed, and new scores commissioned for each—these key works in the development of the world’s most famous director can now be appreciated as visually inventive high-water marks of British silent cinema.
The series kicks off on the brand-new Steinberg Screen in the BAM Harvey Theater, a restored former movie palace that now boasts state-of-the-art digital projection and sound, with live scores performed by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, and acclaimed silent film pianists Stephen Horne and Steve Sterner.
